REPRESENTATIVE COMPLEX LITIGATION EXPERIENCE
State of Georgia Opioid Litigation
Franklin law currently serves as outside-counsel to Attorney General Chris Carr in the State of Georgia’s litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors arising out the opioid crisis. Rebecca has helped secure more than $850 million dollars in settlements for the State in the opioid litigation.
Kolstedt v. TMX Finance Corporate Services, Inc.
Franklin Law represents members of a proposed class of consumers arising out of data breach against a company that extends consumer loans secured by the title to borrowers’ vehicles. Rebecca serves as the Chair of the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee in the ongoing litigation.
Jones v. CSX Transportation et al
Franklin Law helped secure an $11.2 million verdict in a case arising out of the death of a camera assistant after being struck by a train while working on the set of a film titled Midnight Rider, which was based on the life of iconic musician Greg Allman. The verdict was instrumental in exposing issues with safety on film sets, an important matter for Georgians given the explosive growth of the film and television industry in the State.
Chhetri v. Michelin North America et al
Franklin Law helped secure a $16.5 million verdict against Michelin North America based on a defective tire that caused a large passenger van to overturn resulting in the death of one passenger and multiple catastrophic injuries. The jury awarded punitive damages based on Plaintiff’s claim that Michelin should have known that the tire was defective and dangerous.
Desmond v. Narconon et al
Franklin Law has unique experience in exposing dangerous practices relating to Franklin Law has unique experience in exposing dangerous practices relating to addiction recovery. Franklin Law represented the family of a man who died after being allowed to consume alcohol and illegal opioid medications while enrolled in a Georgia drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. Unbeknownst to the patient or his family, the facility had been cited repeatedly by the State of Georgia for violations of health regulations and the facility was not licensed as a residential facility, despite its representations to the public. Based on the case’s publicity, the rehabilitation center’s license was ultimately revoked by the State of Georgia.
Mundy v. Ford Motor Company et al
Franklin Law helped secure a $40 million verdict on behalf of a woman who was paralyzed after her Ford Explorer unexpectedly shifted from the park position to reverse. Rebecca uncovered hundreds of other similar incidents where customers complained of a Ford Explorer suddenly shifting out of the “park” position. The verdict included a large sum for punitive damages to punish Ford Motor Company because of its defective vehicles.
