Attorney Profile

Rebecca Franklin Harris is a trial lawyer with extensive experience in high-exposure, complex litigation. She is an advocate for consumer rights and product safety. She helped secure more than $850 million in settlements for the State of Georgia in litigation against opioid manufacturers and distributors arising out of the opioid epidemic. Among other areas of practice, she also specializes in cases arising out of consumer product defects, toxic exposures, aviation disasters, and medical malpractice.

During her career, Rebecca has worked to obtain substantial jury awards and sizable settlements on behalf of her clients in cases against international automotive and tire corporations such as Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, Subaru, Honda, Nissan, Michelin, Firestone, Continental Tire, and Cooper Tire. Rebecca has also represented clients in product liability cases involving defective medical devices, sports safety equipment, and mobility devices. She has represented clients in product liability aviation claims and has resolved cases on behalf of clients against multiple international commercial air carriers.

She has tried complex cases to verdicts in both Federal and State courts.

Rebecca has also worked to further safety in television and film – an industry which brings billions of dollars a year to Georgia. She obtained sizable jury awards for deaths on television and film sets, including a jury verdict for the parents of a camera assistant who was fatally injured when struck by a train while working on a film. She also represented at trial the mother of stunt performer who was killed while working on the set of the television show, The Walking Dead.

As an undergraduate, Rebecca received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism magna cum laude from the University of Georgia. She then went on to pursue her legal education at the University of Georgia School of Law and was awarded her Juris Doctor cum laude.

Rebecca has repeatedly been recognized for her legal achievements. She was inducted into the Fulton County Daily Report’s Verdicts Hall of Fame after securing a $16.5 million jury award for an accident caused by a defective tire designed by Michelin North America. She has been named in the National Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Lawyers; The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40; and The Fulton County Daily Report’s list of Georgia’s Top 40 Under 40. She has been recognized by the Georgia Super Lawyers publication for many consecutive years.

Rebecca routinely speaks at professional seminars on topics such as product liability litigation, pre-trial motions and depositions, and trial advocacy.
